FAMILY MINISTRY
We want to strengthen families and to help parents hand down their Christian faith to their children.
We believe that children are full members of the body of Christ, and we aren’t afraid of their noises and messes during our services. Because we believe that parents are the primary disciple-makers of their children, we encourage children and youth to worship with their families on Sunday mornings.
While we do have other spaces in which our children and our youth can be involved (which you can see in the tabs to the right, we also believe that there is nothing that can compare to the endless value of one’s children seeing their parents and other adults lost in adoration for Jesus week after week, year after year.
We want the families and children at Rez to be included in a community that is committed to intergenerational discipleship.

We offer two separate Sunday school classes before our services each Sunday, from 8:45-9:45am.
Our youth (12+) are led in discussion either on a specific study or book by parishioner Gary Stephen.
Our youngest children (under 12) sit at the feet of Scripture and Liturgy as they grow together in their relationship with Jesus through catechesis, recitation, narration, and hands on activities.
We know that getting out the door on Sunday mornings can be tough, especially when you’re showing up early, so the families of our older children also provide breakfast on a rotation for our youth, children, & helpers during their Sunday school hour.

We take the statement to heart, “If you’re not crying, you’re dying.” We LOVE having kids in the service.
Yet, kids still get the wiggles. They are kids. We get it. For our children aged 3 and under, we offer what we call the “Wiggle Room” as a place for you to step out of the service with your little ones and let them get their energy out.
A parent, or caregiver, stays with their children in the Wiggle Room and are able to still participate in the service with our window into the Sanctuary, as well as our live audio being broadcast inside the room.
The Wiggle Room is open during the whole service, but we encourage you to come back in to our service with your children when you’re able. (Even if you have to go back and forth several times throughout!)
-
Since we believe that children are full members of the body of Christ, we also encourage our children to attend a Community Group with their parents & families.
We don’t have separate Community Groups for our youth or children, but we’ve found that our young families tend to enjoy attending the same Community Groups together.
-
One of the ways in which our youth (12+) can participate in our services is by serving as what we call a “torchbearer.”

If you need to nurse your infant at any point before, during, or after a service, we have a Nursing Mothers room adjacent to our Parish Hall.
During a service, we livestream the service to a TV inside the room so that you can still watch the service while you’re inside.

Can my children take Communion?
If your children have received baptism, they can take Communion! We believe that Communion is a mystery, and we are nourished by it in a way that goes beyond our understanding, even as adults.
However, it is your personal decision if you would prefer to wait until they can understand why they are receiving Communion, and we will respect your convictions and admire your heart that desires to see your kids grow up to know Jesus.
